Hopefully, you have the TNT in a lab where you can experiment a bit. You want to do this so that only one call is on the TNT. Otherwise, it will be harder to figure it out. First, down all the modem cards (slot -d ) so that only one modem card remains up. Open that card (open 1 ) and enter this command: madd-1/5> wandis 64 Then, place the digital call and observe the output. There should be a few "RECV" and "XMIT" blocks. If you get something else (or nothing), your problem is on the other end. Use ethereal or RFC1661 to decode the output and try to find out what happens on the PPP negotiations. Are you actually negotiating authentication? Is there anything besides LCP packets (protocol c021)? If none of these ideas help, you should probably try contacting Lucent Tech Support. They can verify your configuration. >OK, well tried what you suggested below, and still seeing issues on >this side, and well kinda stumped so open to any other ideas. Message-ID: <000001c1f51a$1693bbe0$6c01010a@dell> Hi all, We have a customer who wants to send us voice traffic for termination into Africa. We are running a Max TNT TAOS 9.x with 672 ports. Unfortunately, when they wink a channel on our switch and try to send the digits, they are getting a fast busy signal. Is there anyway to monitor digits coming live into the switch? I want to know if I am receiving the proper digits so our MVAM can do the correct translations. Nothing is showing up on the event logs of the MVAM. Where do I go to check what digits are incoming and can I watch them real time? When I use my TBerd to push digits through the switch, it works fine. I can complete the call and talk to the receiving side. Is there something missing in my T1 profile setups? Any help would be appreciated. Here are the settings on my Max: Syslog=Yes Log Host = 10.0.0.145 Log Port = 514 Log Facility = Local0 Log Software Version = No Log CallInfo = EndOfCall On my Linux box in the syslog.conf I added the following line: Local0.* /var/log/MAX I restarted my syslog which created the MAX file in the log directory but nothing is appears to be getting to it. I checked my messages file and can't seem to find anything in it that helps. I also tried with the CallInfo set to None. Syslog is running because it's logging everything else. Most don't enable "remote reception" for syslogd by default. Check your /var/log/messages for the last time you restarted syslogd, and make sure it says something like "syslogd 1.3-3: restart (remote reception)." If it doesn't find the script that launches syslogd (on redhat its /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog) and edit it to add the -r command line option when syslogd is started, then stop and restart syslog. You probably also want to firewall port 514 udp used by syslog so that only the hosts you want sending to your server can. Otherwise any joe bloggs can send stuff to your syslog server :) (Which is the reason remote reception isnt enabled by default I suppose) Regards, Simon From colleen.beven at csu.edu.au Fri May 10 01:43:43 2002 From: colleen.beven at csu.edu.au (Colleen Beven) Date: Tue Jan 18 14:02:05 2005 Subject: [Ascend] (ASCEND) LAN connectivity lost without modem disconnecting Message-ID: <3CDB6C1F.44D0C1FE@csu.edu.au> Hi This question relates to an Ascend Max 2000 Has anyone come across the problem where a user can connect to the modem okay, but during the session loses network connectivity. The modem still thinks it has an active session from the users end. Connectivity is not returned and the user is left to log out. It does not happen all the time and does not appear to be related to a particular port on the ascend max. Can anyone suggest a cause to this problem? Is it the Ascend max box or could it be the LAN switch it connects to. The LAN switch supports other services which are not having problems. Thank you in advance. Though I know that a transaction of this magnitude will make anyone apprehensive, but I am assuring you that all will be well at the end of the day. We have decided to contact you due to the urgency of this transaction, as we have been reliably informed of your honesty and ability in a transaction of this nature. Let me first start by introducing myself properly to you. I am Barrister Abdulkarimi Brume, a lawyer and company secretary, with the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc., Lagos. I came to know of you in my private search for a reliable and reputable person to handle this confidential transaction which involves the transfer of a huge sum of money to a foreign account. THE PROPOSITION: A foreigner, Late Engineer John Creek Snr., an Oil Merchant/contractor with the Federal Government of Nigeria, until his death a year ago in ghastly air crash on Kenya Air Bus (A310-300) Flight KQ430, banked with us here at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc., Lagos, and had a closing balance as at the end of November, 2000 worth US$30M (Thirty Million United States Dollars) which the bank now expects a next-of-kin to claim as beneficiary. Valuable efforts has being made by the Union Bank to get in touch with any of the Creek's family or relatives but there has been no success. It is because of the perceived possibility of not being able to locate any of Late Engr. John Creek Snr.'s next-of-kin (he had no wife nor children that is known to us), that the management under the influence of our Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, retired Major General Umar Shelling, requested that arrangement be made for the funds to be declared "UNCLAIMED" and subsequently donated to the ECOMOG Soldiers, to further perpetrate war in Africa. In order to prevent this, some of my trusted colleagues and 1 now seek your permission to have you stand as a next-of-kin to Late Engr. John Creek Snr. so that the funds US$30M would be released and paid into your account as the beneficiary's next-of-kin. All documents to enable you get this fund will be carefully worked out. This proposal is 100% risk-free. We have agreed that, the funds be shared thus, after it must have been transferred into your account. 1. 20% of the money will go to you for acting as the beneficiary of the funds. 2. 10% will be set aside for reimbursement to both parties for any incidental expenses that may be incurred in the course of the transfer. 3. 70% to us the originators of the transaction. If this proposal is acceptable to you, then take advantage of the trust we have bestowed on you and your company, and kindly get to me immediately. Please furnish me with your most confidential telephone, fax number and exclusive bank/account particulars so that I can use these information to apply for the release and subsequent transfer of the funds in your favour. Thank you in advance for your anticipated co-operation. Assuming your network is VLSM friendly (almost certainly yes), it can be in the same block of address space as yoru dynamic pool, since those routes come in as /32's, not the aggregate. We will be switching from CHT1's to PRI's within the next month and have never configured a max for PRI. We bought theses units for PRI support, but have never used it, so we also want to make sure we got what we paid for. How can I make sure they support PRI? Can anyone help me? Details please. In other words, the chassis has a T3 feeding into it, an ethernet card, and a bunch of modem cards. Currently 20 T1's are active on the T3. All modem cards currently installed are 48-port single-slot csmx cards. I'm going to buy another modem card, and enable some additional T1's. The question is, what modem card should I buy? I have yet to obtain any pricing, but my hunch is that the 96-port multi-dsp card doesn't cost twice as much as the 48-port csmx card. If that is true, is there any reason I should shy away from the multi-dsp card? At this time, all I need is the ability to terminate 56kbps v.90 modem connections, but additional functionality (v.92, ISDN, etc) for the same price is always a good thing. It is designed to be used from the command line and has been tested on RedHat Linux 7.1 only. It requires the net-snmp package which can be found at http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net . I will be grateful for any feedback on this script. I'm not real good at shell programming, so I'm sure there are much better ways of doing some of the procedures. I have also written a version which works wonderfully with the Big Brother monitoring system and will post it soon, but would like to see if there is any feedback on this command line version first. I borrowed some of the code for this script from one called snmp written by Sean MacGuire (author/maintainer of Big Brother: www.bb4.com ) Dennis Duval -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
