To follow up on this some more, it seems that all the modems
that have problems are related to the poor quality HCF and
AOPEN modems that some people have.

A lot of the customers are people with iMac's that have very
cheap on-board modems based on these chipsets.

Maybe just a normal fix for these modems might solve my problems.
Any advice on them would be helpful.
