We have been experiencing a high rate of modem card failures in our MaxTNTs recently. The ambient temperature around the chassis is 95F, which is in tolerance according to the documentation, which states 104F is the maximum recommended value. I am concerned that 95F is too hot, and is directly contributing to our card failures. I am hoping others may have had direct experience with this and could offer advice on what is a "good" operating ambient temperature Thanks for any and all help -Larry Kellems ======================================================================== Residential Network Engineer Cinergy Communications larryk@cinergycom.com 1419 W. Message-ID: <006901c3c010$e565a740$c13ec5c3@mikon> Is there a way to recover a lucent dsl-hst unit when it says "halted: configure unit" on bootup? I've got many cpe devices on stock that have the same message. I recall something about hashcode or something like that, but is there a way to generate that code by my self? _______________________________________________ rte-ascend mailing list rte-ascend@lists.real-time.com https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/rte-ascend From speegs at spamcop.net Thu Dec 11 17:36:55 2003 From: speegs at spamcop.net (Leigh Spiegel) Date: Tue Jan 18 13:57:58 2005 Subject: [Ascend] Fatal Errors MAXTNT In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <20031212093655.4ock4008w8c08048@webmail.spamcop.net> Hello, I'm seeing these error on a TNT I'm maintaining. From what I can tell a modem card is buggered. From these errors I can't figure out if it's one modem or the whole 48 on that card. Any ideas on how I would go about fixing this up or is the modem card just needing to be replaced? FATAL ERROR: Index: 42 Revision: 7.2.3 Slot 1/4 (tntcsmx) Date: 12/12/2003. We don't get 'ambient' temperatures of 95F in the UK very often (once a year maybe). If you mean the temp close to the MaxTNT is around 95F and the room in general is cooler then that is not quite as bad, but ventilation should still be concidered. I did have a case of a Max 4000 failing with broken fans. The Max 4000 has a separate power supply and fuse for the fans. The case of the Max was too hot touch for about 10 minutes after it was powered off!! I can't remember the exact symptoms that got me to take a look at the box, it may have rebooted. Hope that helps Jill On Thu, 11 Dec 2003 11:23:04 -0600 (CST) larryk@cinergycom.com wrote: > Greetings to all again......hope you all can shed a little light on > this. > > We have been experiencing a high rate of modem card failures in our > MaxTNTs recently.
