Hi Ed,
The TNT-SL-CT3 is the module you are looking for. As the name implies, it
is channelized and breaks down the DS3 into DS2 then DS1 and of course, DS0.
Once you install the DS3 modules, say in slot 2, you will then have the
total amount of DS1's available to you under that same slot.
For example:
{ shelf-1 slot-2 0 } UP UP t3-card
admin> dir t3
21 06/23/2003 15:09:07 { shelf-1 slot-2 0 } CDS3 <= note T3 in {1 2
0)
admin> dir t1
195 11/06/2002 14:29:56 { shelf-1 slot-2 1 } T3-T1-1 <= note T1 in {1
2 1}
195 11/09/2002 02:29:08 { shelf-1 slot-2 2 } T3-T1-2 <= note T1 in {1
2 2}
195 11/06/2002 15:30:52 { shelf-1 slot-2 3 } T3-T1-3 <= etc. etc.
195 11/06/2002 15:31:21 { shelf-1 slot-2 4 } T3-T1-4
195 11/06/2002 15:31:36 { shelf-1 slot-2 5 } T3-T1-5
195 11/06/2002 15:31:52 { shelf-1 slot-2 6 } T3-T1-6
195 11/06/2002 15:32:14 { shelf-1 slot-2 7 } T3-T1-7
195 11/06/2002 15:46:27 { shelf-1 slot-2 8 } T3-T1-8
195 11/06/2002 15:39:20 { shelf-1 slot-2 9 } T3-T1-9
.
.
.
.
After that breakdown, you would then have to configure the PtP based on
nailed group, etc. under the 'virtual' T1's line/channel settings. Then,
call that nailed group # in your connection profile for each PtP connection.
You will also need HDLC modules/resources for PPP over T1's... one HDLC
resource for every nailed channel. You cannot nail more than 32 channels in
one nailed-group.

Subject: [Ascend] DS3/T3 on TNT?
I'm not very familiar with the MAX TNT.
I need to terminate pt-to-pt T1s, and the telco
gives a discount if terminated into a DS3.
Can I access the T1s inside the DS3 just
like I would with the 8-port T1 board?
If so, which TNT part no do I need?
Regards...ED
