I have a few, and like using them, but have never been able to get the tcl scripts to work. As is often the case, I suspect the documentation is the problem. I can get the command "source nvram setup.tcl" to run without errors. But whatever is in the script, just does work, nor give any reason why it didn't. I would like to start using the scripts, so that I don't have to type so much. Thanks for any help...Ed -- Thank you. First post here, pardon any repetition. I could not find a url to search archives of this mailinglist. Anywho, I have an ascend max 6000 and use it for dial-up users. The ascend unit talks to two unix cistron-radius machines. When I was hired to rebuild the servers, i saw some entries at the begining of the radius users file, which looked an awful lot like this: #route-1 Password = "somepassword" #route-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #dovbs-1 Password = "somepassword" #dovbs-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #ipxroute-1 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner Password = "somepassword" #banner Password = "somepassword" #bridge-ts1 Password = "somepassword" #route-ts1 Password = "somepassword" #route-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #route-1 Password = "somepassword" #ipxroute-ts1 Password = "somepassword" #ipxroute-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-ts1 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #pools-ts1 Password = "somepassword" #route-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #route-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #dovbs-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #dovbs-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #bridge-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #bridge-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #bridge-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #pools-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #pools-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #permconn-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" #initial-banner-Summit Password = "somepassword" #appleroute-1 Password = "somepassword" #appleroute-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #frdlink-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #perconn-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" #pools-Summit Password = "somepassword" I commented out those entries since cistron-radius rejected them as syntax errors. Everything runs well.. An unscheduled reboot of the ascend unit happened the other day and I noticed these entries in the unix radius logfile, which show failures on many of the entries from above. They appear to be configuration options that are activated by the radius authentication. weird to me. The ascend unit functions fine still, but does anyone know what these entries are for? offending logfile entries: Sat Apr 16 17:42:36 2005: Info: Starting - reading configuration files ... Maybe these config options are left-overs from a previous max4000, I dunno. I don't think it matters, because any field with 4000 in it was not queried by max at bootup. So I have modified the pseudo-user entries to look like this: route-1 Password = "somepassword" Auth-Type=Local And that shuts up radius' syntax checker. Will this auth-type work for these various pseudos? Or does max care about anything but user/pass? -Peter > > #route-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #dovbs-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #dovbs-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #ipxroute-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner Password = "somepassword" > > #banner Password = "somepassword" > > #bridge-ts1 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-ts1 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #ipxroute-ts1 Password = "somepassword" > > #ipxroute-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-ts1 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #pools-ts1 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #route-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #dovbs-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #dovbs-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #bridge-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #bridge-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #bridge-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #pools-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #pools-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #permconn-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-MAX4000 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-MAX4000-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #initial-banner-Summit Password = "somepassword" > > #appleroute-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #appleroute-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #frdlink-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #perconn-Summit-1 Password = "somepassword" > > #pools-Summit Password = "somepassword" > > > > > > I commented out those entries since cistron-radius rejected them as > > syntax errors.
