Getting going with road runner should be easy if whoever help you
install your system took time to figure out what NIC you have. Figure
out what driver your network card users. (RedHat keeps a good list of
NICs and what driver they use here:
http://www.redhat.com/support/hardware/intel/62/rh6.2-hcl-i.ld-11.html )

Note the module needed for your NIC. Log in as root and type lsmod. If
that module shows up, your ok. If not, an insmod modulename should do
it. (adding that module to /etc/modules so it's loaded at boot wouldn't
be a bad idea either)

Now you need to get dhcpcd. Check your CDs. Their might be other ways of
getting a dynamic IP, dhcpcd has been the most reliable for me.
