Red Hat 7.1 already has USB support, so you should be good to go there. As Nate said, it will probably appear as a mountable scsi hard drive once you have the modules loaded. You should also look at www.gphoto.org, which is a nice front end for cameras. It was designed more for serial-type connections, but it should work ok w/ USB cameras as well - I think it has a "directory browse" mode.
