I'm checking out Redhat 8.0 and trying to determine howto swicth from gdm/gnome to kdm/kde. I tried switching /etc/sysconfig/desktop to desktop="KDE" which had no effect. I've been all through the scripts in /etc/Xll and is seems like it should work but it doesn't. I have kdm/kde running on another system I'll call server. If I mount sever:/usr I get KDM/KDE on the client which suggests to me that it has nothing to do with a configuration file.
