Your mistake (albeit an honest, innocent one) was to assume that this list really is about Linux. Actually, it's for disgruntled admins and wanna-be's who like nothing more than a good flame war and griping about their bad day; hence the constant threads OS X, qmail, and the like. This list is dominated by a small but vocal minority who think they are doing everyone a favor by being rude and upfront. I'm on several mailing lists (three of which are Linux related), and I can easily say that this is the rudest, most unfriendly one around[1]. Fortunately, there are many more helpful lists; it helps to shop around a bit. > Not too impressed! None the less, consider sticking around. There are a couple of helpful people on the list who a.) don't troll and b.) don't flame you for falling for a troll, but these are few and far between. And you occasionally meet nice people who are willing to give you a hand; they just tend to lurk, that's all. But certainly don't restrict yourself to this list, lest you come away with the impression that this list is indicative of the Linux community as a whole[2]. :Peter [1] There are worse ones, of course, but even *my* tolerance has its limits. [2] As a matter of fact, this list's nature seems to go contrary to the general helpfulness that the community is known for. -- Oh what a tangled web they weave who try a new word to conceive! _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list
