This is my first dual-processor Linux adventure, I'm installing Debian woody on a Dell PowerEdge 1750 with two 2.4 Ghz Xeon processors. Getting Debian on this thing was an interesting challenge, had to create a custom install CD with a custom 2.4.22 kernel in order for the installer to recognize the SCSI adapter and the network adapter.

Anyway, now that Debian is up on it and seems to be running fine, I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for testing the SMP kernel performance. I would like a nice fuzzy feeling knowing that it's actually really utilizing both processors.

Would compiling a kernel suffice? Any other suggestions?

Josh
