I think you have to get lilo off the boot sector:

in linux this is done by:

lilo -u /dev/hda
(or whatever device it's on...)

or if you can use a dos boot disk:

FDISK /MBR
I think might do the trick.. (assuming it's on your boot disk!)

This may get you pointed in the right direction  (?)
