'Fraid so.  I've tried it in the two desktop machines at home, the
laptop, and this morning at work.  They all give out at around 650 MB:

 $ du -cks [012]* 30* | tail
 ...
 2352    308.DBF
 2232    309.DBF
 667400  total
 $

Which isn't so bad, I suppose.  Guess I need to tell my friend to
stop jamming so much stuff on 1 CD.  Here's a quarter, kid, go buy
another one.
