But both versions (Linux & Windows) will detect viruses/worms/trojans/etc for both platforms. They both use similar (if not identical) definition files AFAIK. BTW, you could also remotely scan systems if necessary. We have a few NetApp filers that don't have native AV software on them. We scan for viruses nightly via NFS.
