Notice that the HP laptop that I recommended is not a Compaq at heart. You
can only buy it through their business to business site, it is made with
quality components, and comes with a full 3 year warranty. It may say Compaq
nc6000 on it, but I am of the opinion that naming is merely to appease the
Compaq overlords.

I also have an Atheros chipset in this laptop.

I have had *way* better service with HP and this laptop than I have ever had
from Dell. When I received it they had sent the battery with an incorrect
plastic cover. I called them, talked to someone, they identified the problem
in a minute, and then overnighted me a new cover. The cool thing is they
didn't just send the cover, they sent a plastic set that includes all the
removable plastic pieces on the whole laptop. So now if I have any little
widgets break I have a backup.
