Be aware that normally Debian testing does not get current security
updates. Right now Debian is in transition to make Sage stable so
they decided in August to start porting all security updates to
testing which is standard practice for the transition. Both stable
and unstable have better policies to include security updates.
Unstable gets security updates because of the quick release cycle. A
security update will be loaded into the normal unstable stream as fast
as the security update is added to stable's special security
repository.

Testing, may in fact, be a better choice for business workstations
because you can control the internal network with firewalls and
policies. Whereas, a home computer might be better using the unstable
branch because it may be directly on the Internet. I wish that
alternative Debian distros like Knoppix or UserLinux would contribute
to supporting a testing security team.

Unfortunately, most home users would not be patient enough to deal
with an update that leaves some programs not working for a couple
days. I once had a problem with Firefox and had to use Mozilla until
I found a workaround in the bug report (uninstall package and
reinstall it). Otherwise I've had issues where packages can be
upgraded but the dependencies are not available for a couple days. I
had to use the older program until the dependencies are made
available.
