I just thought I'd send a quick update on my adventures with linux on
a core 2 duo.  I'm now happily running fedora core 6 (released today).
 After enabling AHCI mode for SATA, the install went as expected (with
network support and "desktop effects," no less).  Thanks again for the
help!
