One of the reasons I have Ubuntu in a VM is that so I can do the upgrade there FIRST and see how much it messes things up (; I like to boot into the commandline and then startx into Window Maker, and I wanted to make sure I still can. And I can, no prob. But then I was curious about Unity. FYI, if it can't handle Unity it goes into what it calls "Ubuntu Classic", aka Gnome. And you're right, 3D acceleration wasn't on.
