I’ve purchased nothing but SuperMicro for my VM servers for the last 6 years. I would go no other way. My board? $800. Dual CPU, 8 DIMMs. YMMV on cheap boards but if you just want something basic I would get the APU boards that NetGate is importing - and it has your M2.
