After doing a little more debugging, it looks like it's erroring out
at the iwconfig line:

+++ /sbin/iwconifg eth0 essid matrix
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
	SET failed on device eth0; Invalid argument.

Here is a little if the dmesg output:
