For these climates, you can also invert the entire dish, so that the
feed is on the top, and the tin can doesn't fill up with snow/water/
bird-droppings.

These rusty-can solutions are not going to fare very well in our
climate. They're fun, but expect to be doing replacements/
modifications at regular (and possibly inconvenient) intervals.
