We're having a problem at a client who has a Pipeline 50 running the
newest 8.0 firmware; standard configuration. Their ISP is running Cisco
RAS gear (sorry, all I know is that it's cisco; no more details.)

The connection comes up fine, but when they start a download, it goes at
full speed (11-12k/s) for 10-15 seconds, then it drops to nothing for
another 20-30 seconds. It keeps repeating this cycle, for an average
download speed of 1-3k/s.

Their ISP is blaming it on the Ascend 8.0 firmware. I haven't ever heard
this before; has anyone heard about a problem between the upgraded
pipelines and Cisco equipment?

They are telling us to downgrade to the newest 6.x; which I will try if
need be.. but I'm just curious if this is actually a known problem or if
the ISP is just grasping at straws.

Thanks!
