Hopefully this will clarify it:

The tbixkh.m60 has the following (letters mean the same for the tik.m60):


T = T1
B = BRI
I = IP Only
X = X.25 Support 
K = Series 56K support only
H = PHS (only in Japan)


tik.m60 supports the following:

T = T1
I = IP Only
K = Series 56K support only


This can also be found on the upgrade notes from ftp.ascend.com


The reason for the external memory on the max is because in the feature the
thin loads will not be available so you will be force to use the "thicker"
releases that will require more memory.
