[Ascend] Using a MAX 4004 as a router

Greetings all-
    Am considering using an open T1 port on my MAX 4004 to handle the T1
that connects my two POP's together (instead of a seperate router and
CSU/DSU). In my mind, this would be a better setup, with less equipment for
the data to go thru. However, I have also heard that doing this will bog
down the CPU on a MAX box.

    Anybody out there done (or doing) this successfully? If yes, can someone
point me somewhere that has a tutorial on how to do this? (A short
explanation would be great).
