Hi Everyone, I've got a MAX6000 running ebixk.m60 Revision: 7.2.0, (yeah, I know thats old, but it will be updated soon, and its been running fine) and just recently its started to exhibit random high latency on the ethernet Interface. It is connected to a 100Mbit switch, and for example pinging from a server also connected at 100Mbit to the switch: 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=32 ttl=255 time=807 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=33 ttl=255 time=847 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=34 ttl=255 time=887 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=35 ttl=255 time=778 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=36 ttl=255 time=852 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=37 ttl=255 time=854 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=38 ttl=255 time=853 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=39 ttl=255 time=818 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=40 ttl=255 time=811 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=41 ttl=255 time=803 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=42 ttl=255 time=844 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=43 ttl=255 time=867 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=44 ttl=255 time=839 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=45 ttl=255 time=826 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=46 ttl=255 time=67.858 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=47 ttl=255 time=167.457 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=48 ttl=255 time=345.305 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=49 ttl=255 time=475.741 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=50 ttl=255 time=502.223 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=51 ttl=255 time=483.637 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=52 ttl=255 time=523.674 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=53 ttl=255 time=519.181 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=54 ttl=255 time=526.891 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=55 ttl=255 time=437.907 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=56 ttl=255 time=456.168 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=57 ttl=255 time=386.619 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=58 ttl=255 time=235.007 msec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=59 ttl=255 time=821 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=60 ttl=255 time=816 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=61 ttl=255 time=827 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=62 ttl=255 time=839 usec 64 bytes from abc.xyz.co.nz (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=63 ttl=255 time=822 usec Most of the time it is below 1 ms as it should be, but then it will suddenly start climbing sometimes as high as 700ms and then after 10-15 seconds it drops down to normal again. I've replaced the Ethernet cable and also tried different ports on the switch with no joy. I havn't ruled out a faulty switch, so I will be trying another one soon. Has anyone seen this ? Also, perhaps by co-incidence, perhaps related, it crashed and rebooted last night, the fatal-history for it was: FATAL ERROR: Index: 17 Load: ebixk.m60 Revision: 7.2.0 Date: 04/18/2002. Time: 05:29:42 Location: b0249074 b0249914 b0249b20 b0249428 b018f7a0 00000000 It also crashed twice last year with an identical error, and Location. Does anyone know how I should go about interpreting the error ? Thanks. Regards, Simon
