Because the code won't fit on an 8MB flashcard in the most typical
configurations. You might get lucky but then again, you may not.

This problem is independent of the type of flashcard you use.
It is a bug in the code. If you keep on hitting it, your only
choice is to upgrade to a different code version.

It only stores the code for the slot cards and the shelf. It is not
used as regular DRAM.
