... folks... this evening one of our Maxen did some strange things
and I tried so hard to track down what happened but couldn't
find anything.

There is a Max4k running 7.0.4 with a 16-S56 modem card and
two PRIs. It's just taking calls and has a 8-port BRI-card
additionally where two old ISDN PPP leased-lines are
hooked up.

At 7pm the following things happened and perhaps
someone of you could get this puzzle together:

 - The Max stopped answering SNMP queries (MRTG)
 - The syslog is full of disconnections because
"No NCPs were open" with state "IPNCP negotiation"
 - Nothing in the fatal log
 - The Max dropped his OSPF adjacency with a
   Cisco router several times
 - Even ONE (but only one of two) of the BRI-Leased lines
flapped several times (with "No NCP open").
 - Syslog shows some (but not much)
"Radius client timeouts" although there is a
   secondary radius server available
 - Customer calling and complaining that there
was no connection to the internet.

At 8:30pm (just before I got informed and was
able to check things out) all went back to normal
immediately. The sessions came back up, all looks
absolutely normal since then. I checked
the MRTGs on the Cisco router infront of the
Max to see whether there was a DoS attack with
flood pings or anything else but the LAN was
clean. Nothing special, no high traffic.

Is here anyone who may at least guess what
was going on?

Thanks very much!

Regards,
Sascha
