Hi Mike, I'd say that 'newer is not necessarily better' in this case. The next rev of code for you is 9.1.x but is licensed. What is the filename your 6096's are currently running? (e.g. tbixk.m60, tik.m60, etc.) The upper revs of 9.1.x and higher require increase flash capacity but there is a 'thin load' of 9.1.x that you can run without the flash upgrade. In any case, no one can guarantee that this upgrade will give you significant 'modem performance' improvements. What type of modem modules do you have installed? Have you tried running OSPF already? Is there an issue with running it on your current rev? - Dave -----Original Message----- From: rte-ascend-bounces at lists.real-time.com [mailto:rte-ascend-bounces at lists.real-time.com] On Behalf Of Mike Tancsa Sent: Sunday, October 03, 2004 9:48 AM To: rte-ascend at lists.real-time.com Subject: [Ascend] Getting updated software for 6096s I have a few Ascend 6096s that are running 9.0.9. Is there a better version to be running ? A few years ago I asked Lucent what would be the cost just to get software upgrades and they told me that could only do a full service package for $10K which was kind of nuts considering at that time I could buy replacement units for $1,000. (now much less). Anyone running anything newer ? Or is older better ? I am after optimal modem performance and basic functioning OSPF. _______________________________________________ rte-ascend mailing list rte-ascend at lists.real-time.com https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/rte-ascend
